the eclectus parrot is awsome:) i am getting a pair and play with them both
The treats are sunflower kernels, either raw or roasted, but always unsalted. They just get these for trining. Sort of puts them in “clasroom” mode.
Goffin’s are finicky. She’s probably telling you she didn’t like having you gone. Maybe you can make some fun out of it. Start an interactive game or behavior when you leave (even simple play), then pick it up where you let off when you return. As the bird get more used to a schedule, she’ll understand better how the two of you fit together.
what are you giving as treats? My goffin has days where she wants my attention, then after i come home from working a 24 hour shift, she rejects me. What can I do?
That’s pretty common. I have a cockatiel right now who does not like long tail feathers so he plucks his longer tail feathers so his tail doesn’t drag. I’ve never seen anything like it.
I love my cockatoo. It’s hilarious. We’ve potty trained him. every time he sees us and wants to get out of his cage he says “I go poop” and sure enough
Maisie picks her chest a little from time to time, and she goes to her sister to preen her head and her sister overdoes it a little. Gives her a bit of a “street bird” look. The biggest thing we do it to try to not make a big deal out of it so we don’t end up inadvertently reinforcing it. Our Vet likened it to someone who chews their nails. We know it’s a bad habit but we do it anyway.
I love, love, LOVE your videos. She’s looking a little ragged right now, I hope all is well. She’s getting A LOT better at her tricks!
Alex and the Eclestuses are all rehomes. Max and Maisie came from a shop in Orlando called The Bird Shop. I’d highly recommend finding a bird who needed a home as a first option.
Nice dude but where do you buy your parrots from, which breeder ?
